A Sweet Sauce for Your Sweet Potato Fries

About a year ago, Manfrengensen and I switched from pommes frites to sweet potato fries, and I have been searching for the right dipping sauce ever since. I love sweet potatoes on Thanksgiving, so my first thought was to try to find something that would replicate that taste sensation. I found a recipe on the boards recently for maple-cinnamon dipping sauce that I thought might fit the bill. The photo on Pinterest looks like this:

Ingredients:

approx 1 C plain greek yogurt
1/4 C maple syrup (real maple syrup would have been better)
1 t cinnamon
Directions
Mix yogurt and maple syrup. Add 1 tsp. cinnamon. Stir together until well-combined. Eat with your sweet potato fries!

I decided to make this sauce kind of on the fly, so right away I lacked certain ingredients, namely Greek yogurt. I did have some low-fat vanilla yogurt though, so I substituted that.

Because there were only a few of us eating sweet potato fries (they haven’t caught on yet with the entire family) I halved the recipe, using 4 oz. of yogurt, 1/8 cup of real maple syrup, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, then mixed it all together in a ramekin.

Yummy. Very sweet, and it may even have helped to convert one of the sweet-potato-naysayers to the program.
