Soap as a Mosquito Bite Remedy

The mosquitos have been vicious around here this year. I’ve got a few bites, but mostly they love to feast on The Princess, whose tender young flesh must taste like Butter Pecan to them. She’s reluctant to put on any kind of spray or cream for some reason, so I was interested in a method from the boards that claimed you could stop the itching using a simple bar of soap. The photo on Pinterest looks like this:

So I decided to try it out on myself. After doing some work in the yard, my legs had a few bites on them.

Hmmm, up this close it looks like I might need some moisturizer as well…

So I took an ordinary bar of soap…

and rubbed it on my leg.

I have to admit that I was very skeptical about this remedy, but surprisingly, the itching stopped almost immediately. And the Princess thought that it worked as well.

However, my brother tried it later in the weekend, using a different brand of soap, and he wasn’t convinced at all. It may have been the brand of soap he used, which was not Lever, or maybe I’m just drinking the soapy Kool-Aid. If you give it a try, let me know what you think.

On a separate note, if you have it, I think THE best mosquito bite remedy is Solarcaine Aloe Gel. That stuff may not always be handy, but it’s The Bomb.
