Nipping a Cough with Eucalyptus Oil
To be honest, I have not had much success in the past with homeopathic or natural remedies. There was the detox bath, of course, and the lackluster performances of the vinegar and baking soda cleaners in my bathroom and kitchen. But when your kid is sick, you will try anything to make him feel better, so last week, when Edison had strep and an upper respiratory infection, I tried to curtail his nighttime coughing by using a eucalyptus oil remedy that I found on the boards. The photo on Pinterest looks like this:
The photo I found had no website attached, but the pin suggested that rubbing 4-6 drops of the oil on the soles of the feet would get rid of the cough.
I was skeptical, but I got the eucalyptus oil.
Then, I put four drops on the soles of each of his feet.
And I have to admit that the drops seemed to do the trick. He didn’t cough for the rest of the night!
I don’t know if it only works for some kinds of coughs, but it worked for his. I am sure we will have the opportunity to test this one again as the season progresses, but for now, I’m a believer.
Debbie (our nanny) swears by this. She puts some in a humidifier and runs it in the bedroom. I’ve always wondered if it really worked!
My mom has always sworn by putting vaporub on our feet and covering them up in a sock as a remedy for coughs.
hey that is my picture! 🙂 I was googling something else and came upon your site…lol.. if you need the link to the actual story…

Good luck we are still having great success with it.

Thanks! I will give you a photo credit. Did you know that the photo was on Pinterest? That’s where I got it.
We are still using the method here as well. It works!!
